New Work with Tyrone Lavigne

I had the opportunity to shoot with a great up and coming photographer out of Orange County. (www.tyronelavigne.com) He is very talented and easy to work with and the shots are great! Chrissy (I don’t remember her last name) was our model, she just came to the states from Australia for 3 months to work! She was great too and super easy to work with and on. I got to do a few looks like a natural “no makeup” look, smokey eye, and a smokey eye with a dark lip. I love it when I get to change it up on shoots! I kept the skin pretty matte to go along with runways of Fall 2013. Here is a sneak peak at some of the shots!

To Prime or Not to Prime…that is the question?

A friend text-ed me the other day with a concern about her makeup looking bad on her skin. She said, “I use MAC Studio Fix powder, I put it over my moisturizer but I think it looks like CRAP! I can see my pores, little creases AND the worst part, my hyper pigmentation spots!! What can I use to give me a smooth even look?”

Well, friend, and others as I mentioned in my previous post there are things like BB Creams and CC Creams that can help with all of those concerns, but another solution is to use a tinted moisturizer to help even out skin tone and a primer with silicon to “fill in” the pores and give you a smooth finish before your makeup application! Primers come in many varieties, but my favorite are light weight, gel like primers with silicon in them, most commonly listed as Silica in makeup products. It helps to absorb moisture and give your skin a powder like finish without being heavy. If you have dry skin, only use it in places that your makeup tends to “cake” up or your pores appear large.

Examples:

– Tzone

– Under eyes

– Nose

– High cheek area

Some of my favorite primers are

Laura_Mercier_Foundation_Primer_Oil_Free

Laura Mercier Oil Free Primer with SPF

Too Faced Primed and Poreless (they have a tinted one that I love)

MAC-Prep-+-Prime

MAC Prep and Prime Skin Base

hd-primer_P00004

Makeup Forever HD Primer (I have these in my kit because they color correct as well)

Napolean Perdis Auto Pilot

For a great list of Primers with cost and descriptions, check out http://www.totalbeauty.com/content/gallery/best-makeup-primers.

This should help your makeup stay put, control oil and even out the skin texture and appearance of your pores. Put moisturizer on first all over your face using your CLEAN hands or a synthetic bristle brush, then apply your primer either all over if you have oily/combination skin or just in the places your need it if you have dry skin. Then apply your foundation and other cosmetics.

Hope that helps my friend and all of you!

XOXO,

Morgan

Blue Eyeshadow….we are not in the 80’s anymore!

ImageImageImageImage

So blue eyeshadow was shown on the runways this year for Fall 2013 and I thought, great, are we bringing the 80’s back again?? Well, sort of…blue eyeshadow reminds me of the 80’s, but now makeup artists at Fall’s biggest shows put a modern twist on things as the always do by using more of a cobalt blue and not so much of the baby blue from the 80’s. The trick is to keep it monochromatic and only use that one shade of blue. Keep it close to the eye line and for an every day look don’t go over the crease. To blend it if that is the look you are going for, blend with a soft brown or taupe shadow in the crease. Blue liner is also a great look, but again, keep the rest of the eye simple! I like the above looks because they can be worn every day and they don’t look dated! Nicole Richie wore it best keeping the rest of her makeup clean and fresh! Blue is a great look for spring and any eye color can pull it off! Just remember, don’t match your outfit to your eyeshadow…that will SCREAM 80’s! Have fun and for more questions or comments feel free to leave one below!

XOXO,

Morgan
